Yamaha Motor Italia continues to place its faith in the precocious talents of Claudio Corti, after an impressive debut season in the Superstock FIM Cup. The 2005 superstock 600 champion again came close to winning the 1000cc version in 2007 just missing out on the championship in the ultimate round.
Corti simply dominated the European superstock 600 championship riding a Yamaha YZF-R6 for the Trasimeno team. The likeable young gun won five of the first seven races, finishing on the podium in the other two, to build up a formidable championship lead. Showing maturity beyond his years, Claudio rode intelligently over the last three rounds to take the title in a tense race at Magny Cours.
Racing a YZF-R1 in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup for the Italian distributor's satellite Lorenzini by Leoni team in 2006 and 2007, Corti pushed for the championship until the final round.
As 2007 did not bring the result Claudio has hoped for; the FIM Superstock 1000 Campionship win, Corti has every right to look forward to a fight for the championship again in 2008.
