November 2009 - Niels Donkers, Netherlands
Holland to Switzerland on a 1978, 50cc Yamaha Hi, my name is Niels and I live in Netherlands. This is my story about me and my 1980 FS1. In the summer of 2007 I drove my restored 1978 Yamaha FS1 (50cc twostroke) bike from Holland to Switzerland.
In about 2 weeks we (me and 2 friends) drove 2800km, all the way to the "Sustenpass" 2300m above sea level in the Alps and back to Holland again (+/- 5m above sea level).
Along the way the Yamaha had no problems at all, only a flat tyre (caused by a nail of about 2 cm!).

I was really surprised this "old" (but still very modern for its time!) Yamaha would take me all the way to Swizerland and back home again without any problems.

On the way we found another Yamaha FS1 bike that stood for sale near a farmhouse, it was a 1971 FS1 model with a 5-speed gearbox. I bought it for 500 euros and I am now restoring it. It will be my 3rd restored Yamaha FS1.

Even today the Yamaha FS1 still gives me the Kando feeling! I love it!
