The YEC-8 battery charger – intelligent battery care from Yamaha.
Developed in cooperation with CTEK to fit Yamaha motorcycles, scooters and other vehicles, Yamaha’s innovative new YEC-8 battery charger system not only charges, but also intelligently monitors and maintains the condition of your battery while it’s charging.
The YEC-8 charger is a fully automatic switch mode charger, which means that when connected it analyses the state of the battery, charges and automatically switches to maintenance-charging to keep your battery topped-up when it’s ready.
The YEC-8 cares for your battery with unique desulphation technology that not only helps prolong the service life of your battery, but also ensures the battery provides the maximum performance during that time.
Ideal for seasonally used vehicles, the YEC-8 has a special charge algorithm for charging batteries after a long period without use. And its light compact design means it’s easy to store while not in use.
Tested and approved by Yamaha’s service engineers, the YEC-8 has been designed for long life and safe use. It is spark-free and features protection from damaging reverse polarity connections and short-circuits. It also features a surge-protection function to protect your vehicle’s battery and sensitive electronic equipment.
Yamaha has also developed a range of accessories for easier charging:
- An indicator plug with a long, 0.5 metre cable and a ‘traffic light’ style battery indicator that provides a clear view of the charge condition of the battery (article number: YME-YECPL-05-00).
- A built-in panel plug with an extra long, 1.5 metre cable that can be mounted on the dashboard of a Yamaha scooter or motorcycle (article number: YME-YECPA-15-00).
